Texte de Pier Paolo Pasolini, tirés de ‘La meglio gioventù’” (Einaudi, 1974).
Le texte original avait été écrit en frioulan, avec une traduction italienne par Pasolini lui-même, qui a ensuite écrit une nouvelle version pour qu’elle puisse être chantée.

Non avendo trovato in rete, per parecchio tempo, le traduzioni in italiano delle poesie di Evtušenko costitutive dei Movimenti della sinfonia, a parte ovviamente la prima, ho ritenuto di dovere colmare la lacuna traducendole tutte. Ho preso a riferimento i testi di Valeria Vlazinskaya confrontandoli, per quanto mi è stato possibile, con altre traduzioni autorevoli e sbirciando il testo russo, munito dei conforti di qualche dizionario e note occasionali.
Mi corre l’obbligo di precisare, a scanso di equivoci, che il mio inglese non va al di là del livello medio e che la mia conoscenza di russo si aggira, si e no, su una cinquantina di vocaboli e nessun verbo. Per cui l’impegno è stato piuttosto rilevante.
Le parti cantate dalla voce solista sono impostate con il rientro a destra.

Here there is the translation of the full song cycle of the Symphony no. 13 in five movements , as many as the poems of Evtušenko.

There are quite a large number of English translation of the poem Babi Yar. The one of Robin Milner-Gulland , currently Emeritus Professor of Russian and East European Studies, was maybe the first carried out by an authoritative scholar. Another early translator of the poem was the Irish poet George Ravey, Russian-born on mother side; his work has been included in these pages.
The translation of Benjamin Okopnik is maybe the most famous and valued among the insiders. We have a soft spot for the work of A.Z. Foreman, great knowledge of Russian and Semitic linguistics and, what matters most, of the jewish culture.
