Numerosi vangeli apocrifi fanno risalire a Gesù in persona tale frase, anche se viene ritrovata nell’Apocalisse di San Giovanni, secondo la quale il Diavolo sia stato incatenato da Dio per soli Mille anni. Nell’ottocento si attribuiva la rinascita della civiltà successivamente all’anno mille proprio al sollievo per esser scampati all’Armageddon. E infatti il brano tratta di rimandi alle piaghe d’Egitto, cogliendo l’occasione per parlare delle tragedie dei migranti in mezzo al Mare Nostrum, all’ipocrisia dello sdegno che molte “brave persone” provano nei confronti delle ingiustizie, senza muovere una mano per esse.

Un samba composto da Paulo Benjamin de Oliveira (1901-1949), detto Paulo da Portela – dal nome della strada di Rio de Janeiro dove abitava – importante sambista attivo tra il 1920 ed il 1940.
L'interpretazione più celebre di questo samba è quella di Antônio Candeia Filho (1935-1978), detto semplicemente Candeia, incisa in "Axé - Gente Amiga do Samba", ultimo suo disco prima di morire prematuramente, in ancor più giovane età dell'autore del brano.

In 2016 the Nobel Prize in Literature was awarded to Bob Dylan. He was the first folk singer to to win the award. Mr. Dylan did not bother to travel to Stockholm at the Nobel ceremony, however he recorded his Nobel Prize Lecture in 2017.
In his lecture Dylan discusses (his way) Erich Maria Remarque's All Quiet on the Western Front and quotes some verses from a song, You Ain't Talkin' to Me, attributed to Charlie Poole.
However there is a problem. The quote was not by Charlie Poole: the verses were actually written many years later by Jim Krause and recorded The Alferd Packer Memorial String Band in 1985.
Our website was one of the two (together with Mudcat) having the lyrics of the song. Today, thanks to The Alferd Packer Memorial String Band and to Jim Krause we can publish the complete lyrics of the song and a link for listening.

Leaving On A Jet Plane
I heard that Leaving on a Jet Plane is about a flight attendant (AKA stewardess). Flight Attendants were not allowed to be married in the 50s and 60s. The flight attendants who did marry did so secretly and would remove their wedding ring when they went to work so they wouldn't be terminated.
