I "MiA" statunitensi nella guerra di Corea furono circa 8.000, molti di più i sudcoreani.
Un testo con un tema universale che si ritrova in molte canzoni di ogni epoca incentrate sul ritorno di un soldato qualunque da una qualsiasi guerra, si vedano per esempio Pover suldà o Le retour du marin, ou Brave marin revient de guerre.

Ed il tema è molto più sottile di quanto appare dal melodrammatico racconto in sè: si tratta dell'impossibilità di un vero ritorno per chi è sfuggito alla carneficina di una guerra, per chi avrebbe dovuto morire con tutti gli altri e invece ha avuto il destino di sopravvivere, di essere testimone di quella mostruosità... Un uomo che non avrebbe dovuto tornare, un fantasma, uno zombie, un disadattato che porta con sè un orrore inconciliabile con la vita...

Spotted Elk (Heȟáka Glešká), più tardi chiamato Big Foot dai militari statunitensi, è stato il capo dei Miniconjou Lakota Sioux. Fu trucidato a Wounded Knee Creek insieme a 150 dei suoi dopo che si era arreso al 7° cavalleggeri del colonnello James Forsyth.

Bisonte Seduto (Sitting Bull in inglese - in lingua originale Sioux Tȟatȟaŋka Iyotȟaŋka, nome spesso impropriamente tradotto con Toro Seduto) (Grand River, 1831 – Fort Yates, 15 dicembre 1890) è stato un condottiero nativo americano dei Sioux Hunkpapa.
Famoso capo indiano americano, Bisonte Seduto è ricordato nella storia americana e dei nativi per aver mobilitato più di 3.500 guerrieri Sioux e Cheyenne nella famosa Battaglia di Little Bighorn, dove ottenne una schiacciante vittoria sul Colonnello George Armstrong Custer del Settimo cavalleggeri, il 25 giugno 1876.
Fu ucciso da un poliziotto pellerossa durante il tentativo di arrestarlo per prevenire la sua adesione alla Ghost Dance, il movimento millenaristico che alla fine dell'800, quando i nativi erano ormai stati sconfitti, profetizzava - disperatamente - la fine naturale del dominio dell'uomo bianco e la resurrezione della nazione indiana.
