Una canzone di quasi 25 anni fa che racconta di una vicenda consumatasi ormai più di mezzo secolo fa e che oggi fa apparire la sentenza sull’Eternit, con cui la corte di Cassazione ha dichiarato prescritto il reato di disastro ambientale doloso, annullando le condanne e i risarcimenti in favore delle parti civili, ancora più mostruosa, ridicola, ingiustificabile.

Gli australiani Midnight Oil, una band che è sempre stata molto sensibile alle tematiche ambientali, scrissero questa canzone nel 1990, quando ancora a Casale Monferrato l’Eternit produceva i suoi manufatti in fibrocemento (la produzione e commercializzazione furono interrotte solo nel 1994).
“Blue Sky Mine” racconta perchè Wittenoom, un paese del Pilbara, regione dell’Australia occidentale, nel 1966 divenne una “ghost town”, a nemmeno... (Continues)

"Basically about the fear of the consequences of The Cold War and the nuclear testing in the South Pacific. The Hercules is a transport plane commonly used by the USAF and the RAAF."

"This song actually refers to the sinking of the Rainbow Warrior outside of Aukland harbour by french secret service/submarine (depends who you listen to). The rainbow warrior was protesting nuclear testing in french polynesia and a hercules was a RAAF plane sent to look for survivors but warned of by the french navy."
