Luis Carrero Blanco was Franco's right-hand man
And he held the cordial, spread his fear throughout the land
In the Spanish Civil War, against the people he decided
The fascists were victorious, in the people's dreams they died

But now Franco was ailing, it was 1973
The country, it was restless, even priests took to the streets
When the workers struck for freedom, Franco knew who to enlist
Upon his death, Carrero would ensure his iron fist

Carrero Blanco, up you go
Let's see how far you go
Carrero Blanco, up you go
Let's see how far you go

Down in the Basque Country, the rebels gave the air
The Spanish state's oppression had made a living hell
Al-Ghali, headed to Madrid, the compadres by his side
Seeking out Carrero, he plotted his demise

On his route back after mass, a basement flat was found
A tunnel dug the whole length, of the street beneath the ground
They filled it with explosives, so when Carrero came from prayer
They blew up his car, 20 meters in the air

Carrero Blanco, up you go
Let's see how far you go
Carrero Blanco, up you go
Let's see how far you go

The car vaulted the building, landing on the other side
Carrero's life soon ebbed away, and painfully he died
Millions wept all joyful, the Basques made their escape
Franco's will was dashed, and New Spain started taking shape

People's thirst for freedom, could no longer be subdued
He trumped the old dictatorship, and won the bitter feud
Franco died with fascist Spain, so let us now today
Remember that brave deed, and spread them on their way

Carrero Blanco, up you go
Let's see how far you go
Carrero Blanco, up you go
Let's see how far you go
