Special thanks to Meint Terpstra for both additional Frisian versions: an invaluable contribution, indeed. I wonder if a (video or audio) recording of at least one of all these versions is available.

A rewriting of the 1st verse and refrain by Len Wallace
"For many years I remained faithful to the original with small changes to the original simply because it is a part of working class fighting history. And I say shame to those who consider themselves revolutionaries who do not know the words. Songs, poetry are action. And you cannot change the world if you are afraid to sing. So, to this end, I offer a new version of the first verse that hopefully remains faithful to the message of Pottier's original (utilising in part the work of others). It is not there to replace the original, but to make all consider what we are fighting for." - Len Wallace.

NORVYANISH [NORVIANSK]
(continua)

COREANO YANBIAN / YANBIAN KOREAN
The Internationale as sung in the Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture in China. Differs from both the North Korean and South Korean versions, though uses the North Korean rendering of "Internationale", "인터나쇼날" (Inthŏnasyonal), rather than the South Korean rendering, "인터내셔널" (Inthŏnaesyŏnŏl). As is usually the case with Chinese minority language versions, this version is based heavily on that of the standard Mandarin version by Xiao San.

(continua)

Well hi guys!
Firstly and foremost I want to present myself:
My name is Luis Carlos González Morales, however you can call me artisticly as L. C. Habibi or El Patriota (The Patriot). I was born a 20th of november 2000, at the end of the 20th century and the 3rd millennium. Was born and live in Panama, a Spanish language speaking country in Central America. I'm a musician, prepairing to be a linguist and computer programmer, however I'm futurely prepairing into other fields which I won't mention.
Although I'm not declairing myself as a left or right wing person (I'm always neutral), I was attracted musically to The Internationale. Found this site in 2018 or so? Then exploring all versions and or languages translated (almost 100 or 200 of them) I can tell you that this page... (continua)

The Bengali version of "Varshavianka" was first translated by Hemanga Biswas (1912-1987), a Bengali and Assamese language researcher from Bangladesh. He encountered the ideology of communism at Muralichand University and translated many revolutionary songs into Bengali. It was also he who first translated the world-famous song "L'internationale" into Bengali. Many of the songs he wrote were dedicated to tea garden workers, peasants and the lower classes in disadvantaged areas and are loved by workers to this day. Although he was arrested by the government authorities in 1930 on charges of political ideology, he did not give up and went on to play a central role in the left-wing movement in Bangladesh, in 1987 he lived out his entire life. 1ε. Varšuvietė - Lithuanian version by Juozas Baltrušaitis-Mėmelė (1905)
(Varšav'janka) - Versione ucraina (anonima?)
1ζ. (Varšav'janka) (Anonymous?) Ukrainian version
(continua)

1δ. La Varšavjanka in slovacco
1δ. The Varšavjanka in Slovak
1δ. The Varšavjanka in Slovak
- Si veda qui / See here

After long (and difficult) rearrangement of this page, I'd like to thank Albatross795, Borec (Борец) and the ”Ako- contributor” (Akoniet, Akonin etc. - Aconitum Napellus?) for having contributed so many rare or uncommon versions. As they can see, their contributions have been often expanded and integrated. However, we have not retained the versions sung by French military forces: as stated in the general introduction, they are fascist versions particularly “loved” by French paratroopers (Les Hussards de Berchény).

You're welcome Ricardo, Akoniet is my alternate name
Btw, I'm sure there are still some Varšavjanka hidden around the world ;)
Also there are actually Czech and Portuguese versions, but I don't know anything about these lyrics. I don't have any information…
The Portuguese version was probably sung during the Carnation Revolution, and also Czech lyrics in a songbook "brigáda zpívá", I think :3
but this is too difficult for me to find…

3p. The “Izhevite Song” (Песня ижевцев” by Nikolay Arnold (1918)
The traditional melody of the “Varšavjanka” was so popular around 1918, that it was used also for a number of Russian anti-communist songs. First of all, this “Izhevite song” composed by Nikolaj Arnold, a former lieutenant of the Imperial Russian army. The song is based on the uprising of Izhevsk (Udmurtia), in August 1918, when the workers of the local, historical arms factory (established in 1800 by the czar Paul I) insurged against the Red Army. On March 5, 1917, workers at the plant formed a worker's soviet, which included representatives of the workers, the army and of other citizens. Two days later the factory administration resigned and was replaced with elected officials. By mid-September of the same year, Bolsheviks took control of both the council... (continua)

Another song from the Izhevsk-Votkinsk uprising of 1918-19, which tied up with the “White” counter-revolution. As you can see, Varshavianka had become totally bipartisan due to its huge popularity. As a matter of fact, this version is an alternative version of the Izhevite Song, and is known as the “White Varshavjanka”. [RV]

3q. Пробил час грозный избавленья ("The terrible hour of revenge has come") [1905]
A song from the 1st Russian revolution of 1905. It was first recited as a poem on a workers' meeting in Sormovo (now a city district of Nizhny Novgorod, but a separate city at that time) on 9 July 1905, six months after the “Bloody Sunday” which marked the beginning of the uprising in St. Petersburg. The poem was later distributed in broadsides reading “To be sung to the tune of Varshavyanka”, but this is possible only from the 2nd verse onwards. The 1st verse and the refrain do not match the Varshavyanka tune, and a possible tune could be that of the song “The Red Banner”. The author of the song is unknown. [RV]

1η. A Varsoviana de 1905 - Portuguese translation by Erick Fishuk
(continua)

It was written in 1972 by Jaap van de Merwe together with Rob van de Meeberg, Marius Monkau, Nelly Frijda and Marjan Kweksilber. Jaap van de Merwe and Marjan Kweksilber also sing the song. The song shows a number of variants in the lyrics, and some points are controversial in the lyrics available in the Web; btw, the lyrics shown in the video do not always match what it is really sung. So, we have decided to transcribe the lyrics by direct listening, with a number of notes. The lyrics are written in a form of Dutch somewhat archaic, or high-falutin, even in pronunciation... 85. Bella ciao (Versione in catalano algherese di Claudio Gabriel Sanna /2009/)
85. Bella ciao (A version in Alguer Catalan by Claudio Gabriel Sanna /2009/)
[RV]

41b. Bella Ciao in Japanese by Los Marcellos Ferial
In 1966, Sony Music Entertainment Italy released this Bella Ciao sung in Japanese by Marcello Minerbi and Los Marcellos Ferial (here “Marcello's”); we don't know anything else about this version, including the song lyrics (except when Los Marcellos Ferial say “O bella mia, bella ciao” in Italian). Should someone be able to transcribe the lyrics, we would be really thankful. [CCG/AWS Staff]

88. Laskenta avgreat (Bella Ciao in Norvyanish)
As far as I know (very little, I must confess), Norvyanish is a constructed language based on sort of a mix of English and Norwegian (I recognize some Norwegian or Scandinavian words, like skon “beautiful” or Floma “flower”, ingl. flower + norv. blomme). Norvyanish nouns show German-like Großschreibung. A version of the Internationale has been translated and sung in Norvyanish. Further information on Norvyanish is welcome. [RV]

I couldn't have done it better, so forget about dictionaries.
How was the Italian of the two tenors? In my ears it sounded very Italian with the exception of the /l/ sound. Sergei had the Russian l and Kalle the Finnish one which are both slightly different from the Italian l.

The Italian of the two tenors sounds quite good, and I am not amazed about this. A large number of operas are in Italian, and no opera singer is dispensed from a good knowledge and practice of Italian pronounciation (in effect, I think most opera singers have a knowledge of the Italian language, however bookish it may be). As far as I am concerned, I often understand operas in Italian better when they are sung by non-Italian singers - librettos are often written in old fashioned, high-falutin Italian and cannot be readily understood on simple listening, especially when sung by native speakers. Of course, some habits of non-Italian speakers can be grasped, like the /l/ sound of both the Russian and the Finnish singer; this is only natural. By the way, these sounds exist in some Italian dialects; the Russian /l/ in a number of southern dialects, and the Finnish /l/ in the dialect of Livorno.

- ne.wikipedia
