Su Discogs il titolo di questa canzone appare come attribuito per la prima volta nel 1915 a tal "F. Belasco". Poi lo ritroviamo nel 1959 come interpretata dai New Lost City Ramblers. Per arrivare a J.C, ovvero Jimmy Curtiss, dobbiamo attendere il 1969...
L'attribuzione del brano merita qualche ulteriore approfondimento, anche perchè mi pare che il testo compaia solo qui sulle CCG/AWS, senza ulteriori riscontri altrove.
"Johnny, Get Your Gun" era il motto ufficiale per il reclutamento nell'esercito statunitense già alla fine dell'800 e poi ancora quando gli USA scesero in campo nel corso della Grande Guerra in Europa...
Johnny Got His Gun è il titolo del romanzo scritto nel 1939 da Dalton Trumbo, sulla base del quale egli stesso - già sceneggiatore per Preminger, Kubrick e altri - diresse un celebre film nel 1971.
Credo che la pagina vada approfondita...

Non è la stessa canzone. Quella di questa pagina si può ascoltare nel video all'inzio. Quella composta da F. Belasco è questa:
che è una canzone per bambini e dovrebbe risalire addirittura al 1886.
Anche quella dei New Lost City Ramblers è una versione un po' diversa della stessa canzone ma non ha niente a che vedere con quella di questa pagina a parte il titolo

la canzone di Jimmy Curtiss sta in una raccolta curata dall'etichetta Sort of Records, che aveva un sito ormai non più raggiungibile (www.sunpk.com). Il titolo della raccolta - piena di brani di autori minori e misconosciuti - è "Delayed Sunshine".
Noto che il testo fu contribuito proprio da un utente che si firmava Sun PK. E' possibile quindi sia stato preso dagli archivi di quell'etichetta discografica, perchè non è assolutamente reperibile in Rete.
