The Sidney Carton's Final Speech
(Richard Marot)

People die without Hope
They are inside a hole
They are empty souls
Because they can’t be fed
They die in the middle
Of their solitude and tears
Until they can’t cry anymore.

And they are dumb
In front of the tombs
Of their tired people
Who are merciless deaths

And the reason of their suffering
It’s always the same thing
It’s always the same sin
I’m talking about Famine
Famine, Famine…

And they’re getting more ‘n’ more thin
Until they know their death’s way
A death which man himself created
I am talking about Famine!

But what can I do
What can I say
What can I feel
If I‘ve watched
If I‘ve seen
And if I’ve suffered too,
The same cruel Famine

People die sad and thirsty
And they’re always hungry
In the middle of the desert
In the middle of Poverty!

And the reason of their suffering
It’s always the same thing
It’s always the same sin
I’m talking about Famine
Famine, Famine…

But what can I do
What can I say
What can I feel
If I‘ve watched
If I‘ve seen
And if I’ve suffered too
The same cruel Famine…

Their lives are lost
Because of their doom
This is so unjust
But they’ll be the most
Someday, Someday,
Because Famine has no piety
And its fever is so dirty…

Because I‘ve watched
And I‘ve seen,
And I’ve suffered too
The same selfish sin
I’m talking about Famine!
Famine, Famine
Our famine…

Because I‘ve watched
And I‘ve seen,
And I’ve suffered too
The same selfish sin
I’m talking about Famine!
Famine, Famine
Our famine…
