Medio Oriente 1982 : le Forze di Difesa israeliane invadono il Libano. E’ l'Operazione Pace in Galilea“. Le stime più attendibili parlano di circa 50mila civili palestinesi e libanesi uccisi, 5.300 combattenti uccisi e 6mila dispersi. Tra i militari israeliani vi furono 654 morti e 3887 feriti.
L’autore Ehud Manor scrisse il testo per denunciare che Israele mandava a morire i suoi giovani in Libano senza necessità. Era spinto anche dal ricordo del fratello Yehuda ucciso nel ’68, durante la guerra di logoramento israelo-egiziana.
Il successo dela canzone è stato trasversale: per gli israeliani di destra è come un inno nazionale, per quelli di sinistra è un simbolo di protesta condensato nei versi: “Non me ne starò zitto perché il mio paese ha mutato volto”.
Nel 2023 Ein Li Eretz Acheret è stata adottata dal Movimento di protesta contro le politiche oltranziste di Netanyahu.
