Let a million sunflowers bloom in peace
With blue sky always above
Let them inspire with their golden beams
And warm their face in the sun
A nation’s children are its wealthriches
More precious than silver or gold
Ukraine calls them sunflowers
Symbols of a future bright
But strollers sitting empty
In the town of Lviv
They haunt my memory
Of dead flowers one hundred and nine
In Russia’s invasion of Ukraine
Hundreds of children died
Who will make Russia pay
For pay they must for these crimes?
The gold in Ukraine’s flag
Is dull and the blue sky is pale
Because of strollers a hundred and nine
And sunflowers dead before time
Children are so innocent
But the sunflowers who survive
Will not forget Russia’s crimes
But will turn their face to the light
Yes they’ll turn their faces to the light
And remember the tragedy
Of their generation cruelly uprooted
Like those one hundred and nine
With blue sky always above
Let them inspire with their golden beams
And warm their face in the sun
A nation’s children are its wealthriches
More precious than silver or gold
Ukraine calls them sunflowers
Symbols of a future bright
But strollers sitting empty
In the town of Lviv
They haunt my memory
Of dead flowers one hundred and nine
In Russia’s invasion of Ukraine
Hundreds of children died
Who will make Russia pay
For pay they must for these crimes?
The gold in Ukraine’s flag
Is dull and the blue sky is pale
Because of strollers a hundred and nine
And sunflowers dead before time
Children are so innocent
But the sunflowers who survive
Will not forget Russia’s crimes
But will turn their face to the light
Yes they’ll turn their faces to the light
And remember the tragedy
Of their generation cruelly uprooted
Like those one hundred and nine
