Juna kulki halki laajan aromaan,
Leningrdista vei matka Ukrainaan.
Halki peltojen kullankeltaisten
nuorten taival taittui nopeaan.
Ystävinä tultiin suureen naapuriin,
asemilla liinat, merkit vaihdettiin.
Halki peltojen kullankeltaisten
matka johti määränpäänä Wien.
Matka ystävyyden festivaaliin vei,
vihaa sydämessä kellään ollut ei.
Halki peltojen kullankeltaisten
nuorten riemuntäysi taival vei.
Vieraiksensa meidät otti suuri maa,
yhdessä me laulelimme Katjušaa.
Halki peltojen kullankeltaisten
matkaa koskaan ei voi unhoittaa.
Kaikkialta nuoret jälleen yhteen saa,
junat, autot, laivat meitä kuljettaa.
Käymme Berliiniin, juhlakaupunkiin,
rakentamaan rauhan maailmaa.

TRAIN OF FRIENDSHIP
Passing through vast grasslands the train
was on its way from Leningrad to Ukraine.
In the middle of golden fields
our journey went quickly.
We came as friends to the great neighbor.
At stations, scarves and pins were swapped.
In the middle of golden fields
our journey continued towards Vienna.
Heading for the festival of friendship,
there was no hatred in anybody's heart.
In the middle of golden fields
our journey was full of joy.
We were welcomed by a great country
and together we were singing Katyusha.
In the middle of golden fields
we made a journey none of us will ever forget.
Once again, youth from all over come together
transported by trains, cars and ships.
We are on our way to Berlin, the festival city,
in order to create peace in the world.
