Il testo è basato su una poesia egiziana risalente al Medio Regno (1987 a.C. - 1780 a.C.) tratta dal "Dialogo tra un aspirante suicida e la sua anima" (Debate between a man tired of life and his soul)
Canzoni di protesta? Possono esprimere quello che alcune persone provano, quello che intuiscono ma non sono riuscite a formulare compiutamente, ma forse non sono il modo migliore per far cambiare idea alla gente, e neanche per incoraggiarla a impegnarsi in un esame più approfondito.
La cosa piu simile a una vera canzone di protesta fu la cover di un pezzo dei Lambchop, il cui testo era una poesia egiziana vecchia di migliaia di anni: un grido contro la violenza e l'alienazione. Non molto è cambiato da allora.
