Testo / Lyrics / Sanat: Marja-Kaarina Mykkänen

This is a song commemorating the first nine-eleven in Chile in 1973 and paying tribute to Pablo Neruda, the great poet of the Andes.
Auringon noustessa lentoonsa lähti
kolibrinpoikanen murheellinen
siivillä pisara verta

Andien juurelta kuulla sait viestin
toverin tappoivat, murhasivat
tappoivat ihmisen, rakentajan

Vieläkö naurat kuin eilen?
Vieläkö itket, vieläkö laulat?
Vieläkö naurat kuin eilen
toivoni sinisin silmin?

Monedan muurit savuavat vielä
Kranaatinheittimet ulisevat
aavikon shakaalin lailla

Andien juurella kansa taas nousee
auringon keralla pelloilleen
aseena teräs ja tieto

Vieläkö naurat kuin eilen?
Vieläkö itket, vieläkö laulat?
Vieläkö naurat kuin eilen
toivoni sinisin silmin?

Auringon noustessa lentoonsa lähti
kolibrinpoikanen murheellinen
siivillä pisara verta

Enemmän naura kuin eilen
syvemmin itke, kauniimmin laula
Enemmän naura kuin eilen
rohkean avoimin silmin
rohkean avoimin silmin
rohkean avoimin silmin

TE RECUERDO

At the dawn of the sun in the skies rose
a hummingbird full of sorrow
with bleeding wings

From the foot of the Andes a message sounded:
they killed a comrade, murdered
killed a man, a builder

Are you still laughing like yesterday
still crying, still singing?
Are you still laughing like yesterday
with the blue eyes of my hope?

Smoke is still rising from the walls of Moneda
Mortars are howling
like a shakal in the desert

At the foot of the Andes people rise
with the morning sun and return to their fields
armed with steel and knowledge

Are you still laughing like yesterday
still crying, still singing?
Are you still laughing like yesterday
with the blue eyes of my hope?

At the dawn of the sun in the skies rose
a humminbird full of sorrow
with bleeding wings

Laugh more than yesterday
cry more deeply, sing more beautifully
Laugh more than yesterday
boldly and with eyes wide open
boldly and with eyes wide open
boldly and with eyes wide open
