Il signor Joseph Ezust che ha tradotto la canzone dev'essere comunque di origine ungherese (ezüst significa "argento" in ungherese).

Canzone di soldato anonimo
Su di una melodia popolare riscritta e arrangiata da Zoltán Kodály. Brano incluso nell’opera “Magyar Népzene VI” (“Musica popolare ungherese VI”) pubblicata nel 1925.
Classica canzone di “naja”, identica in ogni epoca ed in ogni angolo del mondo: la triste lettera dall’amata, il dubbio sulla sua fedeltà, il rancore verso i vertici per tutto quel tempo perduto, forzatamente trascorso lontano dalla casa e dagli affetti...
Ho datato il brano a cavallo dei due secoli perchè la ferma è qui di tre anni, e quindi precedente al 1912 quando anche in Ungheria, come già avevano fatto altre nazioni, il servizio militare obbligatorio fu “ridotto” a 2 anni... Dopo poco però arrivò la Grande Guerra a rimettere tutto a posto: la naja non ebbe più termine.
