From the day that Custer and his men met their fate
The paper said: "Get those savages before it's too late".
"If we don't eradicate their kind they'll kill us in our sleep".
"We've got to get the Army here we're in this way too deep".
The land was good that the government had given to the Sioux.
Some wanted it for profit. There's nothing they wouldn't do.
So they called upon their government and said we've got a mess
And the Cavalry came riding at the governor's request.
They took away their weapons and the horses they would ride
But they couldn't take their honor they couldn't take their pride
So they rode upon their village gunpowder filled the air
Shooting anything that moved as if they didn't care
Why'd they give them all medals?
And pin them high on their chest
Why'd they call them all heroes?
For their part in the deaths
What's the white flag mean when the devil is seen
And he's running right at you
Your people are crying your people are dying
And there's nothing you can do
The sound of rapid fire guns is all you can hear
And the last thing you see is the ones you love possessed by death and fear
Caught in the cross-fire of the Hotchkiss on the hill
And the guns of the soldier blues and their willingness to kill
No more ghost dance no more second chance no more rebel ways
Civilized man has tamed the Sioux and made the RedMan pay
Why'd they give them all medals?
And pin them high on their chest
Why'd they call them all heroes?
For their part in the deaths...
This is the story
about Wounded Knee
It's not all of the glory
they'd have us believeā¦
Now the smoke cleared away Winter set in and covered the dead with snow
But they'll never cover up the massacre or the haunting of the souls
They say if you listen close enough you'll hear the screams of Mother Earth
And see the bright red stains of her people's blood That soaked slowly in her dirt
Why'd they give them all medals?
And pin them high on their chest
Why'd they call them all heroes?
For their part in the deaths..
This is the story

It's not all of the Glory
