"Eve of War" è stata composta tra il 2002/2003 circa, nel periodo in cui era imminente la guerra in Iraq e, come riferito in un'intervista, l'ispirazione è venuta al suo autore mentre questi al piano teneva in braccio la figlia di pochi mesi e rifletteva sull'orrore e sull'assurdità della guerra.
