The man in charge is not my man,
I don’t know how he got there.
The man in charge is supercharged
with a need for oil and power.
The man in charge makes all of us seem
complicit in his schemes.
The man in charge wants all of us
to share his fearful dreams…
of religious right, and others’ wrongs.
To turn our heads away–
Like a deaf man out among the blind
he will not / cannot hear us pray
to end the madness, stop this war!
There’s nothing there to win–
not for the USA, not for the world.
Oh what a mess we’re in…
But the man in charge could be charged,
this I do believe,
with crimes against humanity.
I really do believe.
The man in charge may be charged,
you just mark my words,
ith crimes against dignity.
Mark my words.
The man in charge could be charged,
this I do believe,
with crimes against families.
Oh, I really do believe…
The man in charge may be charged,
you just mark my words,
with crimes against Cindy.
Mark my words, mark my words!
The man in charge will mark my words,
someday if he is charged.
He’d think,
“Maybe I shouldn’t-a-done all that.”
He might wonder, “Why was I even born?”
My man in charge is not from here,
He’s with others high above.
But he said that folks should get along
with just a thing that he called love.
I don’t know how he got there.
