Nell'album "Play" del 1999
Secondo un'operazione cui Moby è ricorso spesso, si tratta di un campionamento – l'ennesimo, ma il primo di successo – da un gospel risalente ai primi anni 60, "He'll Roll Your Burdens Away", inciso da The Banks Brothers With The Greater Harvest Baptist Church Back Home Choir Of Newark, New Jersey (il solito saccheggio creativo dei bianchi ai danni dellla musica afroamericana...)
Il celeberrimo e malinconico videoclip del brano, realizzato da Susi Wilkinson, Hotessa Laurence, e Filipe Alçada, ha in sè anche un portato direttamente antimilitarista e antibellicista.
Indimenticabile tormentone di alcuni anni fa, indissolubilmente legato al malinconico personaggio con cagnetto (mi ricorda “Umberto D” di De Sica) protagonista del clip, un disadattato (come me, come molti) alle brutture, alla volgarità ed agli orrori di questo mondo, guerra compresa.
Non è forse un caso che Ridley Scott abbia scelto questo brano per la colonna sonora del suo “Black Hawk Down” del 2001 sulla disgraziata avventura americana (e dell’ONU, e dell’Italia) in Somalia nei primi anni 90, una vergognosa pagina di storia di cui ancora oggi vediamo gli effetti nefasti.
