Sven-Bertil Taube, born 1934, is one of Scandinavia's most popular performers. Through concerts, cabaret performances, records and television specials he has carried on the tradition of the troubadour, often performing songs by his father, Evert Taube.
As a member of the Royal Dramatic Theatre in Stockholm 1960-68 he took leading roles in both classic and modem plays. During the same period he made a number of films in Sweden, and in 1969 he made his first English-language film, The Buttercup Chain, which led him to being chosen to play the lead in Alistair MacLean's Puppet on a Chain.
John Shlesinger saw one of Sven-Bertil's Swedish television specials and instantly decided that here was the man to play Prince Albert in the London production of I and Albert, a musical about the romance between the young English Queen and her Prince Consort. During this period Sven-Bertil made several appearances in English television including an episode of the internationally popular series Upstairs, Downstairs.

Since the mid-seventies, Sven-Bertil has spent most of his time in Scandinavia, fulfilling concerts, theatre, television and recording engagements, which have left little time for films - although he has managed to fit in feature roles in The Eagle has Landed and Game for Vultures.
