Ron of Japan

I was not able to get any information on "Ron of Japan" except he is from Newport, Virginia,
United States and a very small interview:

…Just me, mainly, playing guitar and harmonica and singing. Fairly folkish, and if you were naive, you might call it emo.
Why this name?
Ron of Japan. It's a restaurant in downtown Chicago, though I've never eaten there. I've only seen it.
