Mike Nobel is a critically acclaimed songwriter and composer, best known for his work on “Color Me Green”R, an on-air environmental awareness campaign for kids. Mike lives and writes from his home base in Gorham, Maine. A goal throughout Mike’s 25-year career has been to employ the “power of song” to address a wide variety of social issues, especially issues affecting the health and welfare of kids. His songs feature humor, emotion, and a rainbow of popular musical styles. His work has been described as “utterly unique.”
In the early 90’s Mike composed all the songs for, and also served as co-creator of the “Color Me Green” public service campaign featured on WCSH 6 TV (NBC Affiliate) from ’93 – ’96. The campaign won the distinguished “Best of the Best” honors at the National Association of Broadcasters' 1994 “Service to Children” Awards. The campaign and Mike’s songs were also featured in a major report of the “President’s Council on Sustainable Development” in 1997. Mike’s “Color Me Green” songs are used in thousands of schools nationwide in classrooms, musicals, and concerts. CD's and cassettes are available.
Mike’s “..I’m Alive!” anti-smoking/healthy choices program began in 1999 when a very dedicated school nurse in Maine motivated him to turn his creative energies in the direction of tobacco prevention education for students in elementary and middle schools. Mike's "..I'm Alive!" uses the power of music and musical theater to address the critically important issues of smoking prevention. smoking cessation, and healthy choices in a way that provides a fun, empowering, and enriching musical and education experience for K-6 (and older) students. The program package includes performance guide, CD's, and songbook.
